Wedding Shoes – Cute or Comfy?

Or can they possibly be both?…

Shoe from Manolo Blahnik

When choosing your dream wedding shoes, there are lots of things your need to consider aside from just how fabulous they are. You will be wearing these shoes all day. You will need to walk down the aisle, stand for lots of photographs, circulate to meet all your guests and dance the night away. Can you do this in heels? Just how high a heel can you do this in? Well now you have your starting point!

Award-winning shoe designer Rachel Simpson says “Choose shoes that make you feel amazing! Even if your dress is floor length, giving your guests the occasional peek of an exquisite pair of shoes will make you feel like a true princess! Wedding shoes don’t have to be boring – combine classic style with fashionable detailing and you’ll love them for years.”

Choosing a Bridal Wedding shoe designer is always a great place to start. They know the requirements of any bride for their shoes, designing comfort and style in one.

You have to love your shoes! They will be photographed with your dress just before you put them all on and at a minimum the toe of your shoe will show in each step you take even if you are wearing a full length gown.

You should plan to wear your shoes all day! There is no point in paying to have your gown altered based on the height of the shoes you wear, if you end up kicking them off or switching for a flat pair later in the day and then your gown is too long again. Choose a pair that you believe you will wear all day.

You must be comfortable as well as fabulous! The technology in good Bridal Shoe designs now is amazing. You can get padded insoles and skin-fit technology which is the softest inside of any shoe possible and make them fit like cushions. This is what you want on your big day!

Look After your feet! Make sure to get a pedicure and some foot pampering in advance of your wedding. They will look their best for both your big day and of course be picture perfect for your honeymoon.

Make sure to practice wearing your wedding shoes for the weeks coming up to your Wedding day. You need to be really used to wearing them to be sure for comfort on the day.

To some, shoes are a passion and choosing your bridal shoe should always be a careful choice as ill-fitting shoes can spoil your day or ensure you have a an amazing day! Choose carefully….

Newest Wedding Cake Trends

Just about anything can inspire your wedding cake design. The beautiful ornate moulding in your ballroom venue, your beautiful gown, your table centre pieces or even your chosen flowers. Here, a few trends to help inspire your custom cake.

 THE NAKED CAKE….Naked Cakes

Yep, you read that right and it is the hottest trend in Wedding Cakes right now. With the deconstructed cake, you get to show off the inside. For a summertime wedding, berries work well; in winter and fall, ask your baker to fill the layers with seasonal fruits, like apples, pears or even blood oranges. “The exposed cake and filling of the naked cake appeal to both the eyes and the stomach,”

Experienced cake bakers are turning out tiers decorated with beautiful designs, reminiscent of the most gorgeous wedding gowns imaginable — like yours. A lot of brides are looking for patterns copied from the lace in their dress. So decide which detail from your dress to highlight on your cake, from a few simple sugar-made buttons to ivory and white fondant lace appliques wrapped around each tier. The key to pulling it off is in the color. This trend works best with light hues and little contrast.

Metalic Cakes
Metallics are only big for stationery, but for wedding cakes as well. We’re not talking about a gold and silver vintage style, but more a stylized glam, art-deco, old-Hollywood look. The best part about metallics? They can adapt to any style; delicate embroidery in gold feels opulent while geometric shapes give off a fresh, modern feel. If an entire tier is too much glitz for you, consider adding a little sparkle all over. Fine edible glitter (think: pixie dust) can add a decorative sheen to your cake without overpowering the whole design.
In reality, you can let your creative juices flow when it comes to your cake but remember it must taste yummy as well as look beautiful. Think outside the box and incorporate something personal into your cake. You really should have your cake and eat it!!

How To Find The Perfect Wedding Gown…

Finding the perfect gown is such an important part of your wedding planning experience and as the adage goes  if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

Firstly do your research on the style of dresses you love, the shapes of dresses that suit best your body shape and finally the bridal boutiques that stock those styles of gowns.

Make sure you take only 1-2 people who know your style and who’s opinion you value with you to your appointment. You can bring back the entourage to a ‘reveal the dress’ visit when you go in to do your final measurements. This will eliminate any strong personalities from influencing your choice and ensuring you choose the dress that you feel most special in… as well as looking fabulous in of course!

Do not visit too many boutiques. You will try on an average of 10 dresses in each shop, so 2-3 boutiques is loads. Again, do your research to see who has a good on-line presence. A good boutique invests in their on-line presence and is very active on social media.

Be honest with your consultant. Their job is to help you choose the perfect dress but if you believe you may have already found ‘the one’, say that at the beginning of the consultation, so she has a clear idea of the dress she needs to beat. Also, be very clear about your budget. Identify your preferred spend as well as your maximum spend so the consultant will only bring dresses within your range to you. There is nothing worse that falling in love with a gown that is way outside your budget.

Finally enjoy the experience and your ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ moment. This will be probably the most expensive gown that you will buy in your whole life so you need to enjoy that. You will find, it is a wonderful relief to have chosen your dress as this will determine the whole theme of your wedding. There is very little detail that you can choose before your choose your dress.

Remember firstly you must feel fabulous and secondly look fabulous!
